Get More Out of Our Sketches, Studies, and Photographs

We love the improvisational potential in watercolor and we won’t forget that in this short class. We can find a lot more info in our photos and quick sketches. Sketches, studies, and photographs can help us find our own solutions to improving our painting’s accuracy and design issues all while gaining more freshness and beauty in our watercolors!  So let’s learn how to think a bit more like jazz masters or improv poets and learn how to better use these powerful visual resources!

MEETS: on Thursdays at 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm

Exploring Texture, Expanded Masking, & Altered Surfaces

Watercolor on paper is, physically, an extremely flat medium and therefore confronts us with a challenge wherever we want to create the appearance of texture, form, and space. So, embracing that we will employ some strategies to successfully create visual depictions of 3-D depth, space, form, and texture. We will also explore altering the physical surface we paint on for greater textural effect.
